100-mile Club information

Physical activity is an important part of physical and emotional development and academic achievement and Marshall Magnet wants to help your kids move! After the holiday break we’re kicking off a new before-school activity--the 100 Mile Club!  Each week on Tuesday & Thursday mornings between 8:20-8:35, students can run and/or walk laps to work toward distance goals of 25, 50, 75 and 100 miles. The students will receive recognition and awards as they reach each goal.  Volunteer parent coaches will supervise the activity and help kids track their progress.

There is a one-time cost of $10 to participate in the program to cover the cost of the awards (not annual—just one time per child, no matter how many years they participate!).  Financial support is available.

To learn more about Marshall Magnet’s 100 Mile Club and to register your child/children, please go to this link.

You can also check out 100mileclub.com to learn more about this nationwide movement!

Hello Marshall families,

We have a few reminders for tonight, so stay in line to find out what's going on at Marshall School.

First of all, we would like to remind you that Marshall and all FUSD elementary schools will dismiss students early at 12:25 am, Thursday, December 8th. FACTS will be open at the time of dismissal and students must arrive home by bus at the same time as Fridays. Teachers will use this time to prepare their child's second trimester report card.

Do not forget, this Friday, December 9, is the last day to bring food for our annual canned food unit. We will have a pick-up parade around 9:00 am on Friday and the class that donates the most cans will win a pizza party donated by our awesome PTO.

Finally, we will donate all items left in our lost and found excesses to local charities at the end of the December 16 school day, the last day of school before the winter break. If you fear that your child has lost an item at school, please do everything possible to check our containers in the cafeteria before Friday.

That is all. Thanks for listening to everyone. As always, if you missed any part of this message, a link to the text is available on our Facebook page and on the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

Hola familias Marshall,

Hello Marshall families,

We've got a number of important last-days-of-school updates for you this evening, so please stay on the line for the next minute or so to find out all about what's happening at Marshall this week and next.

First of all, don't forget: we'll release school at 12:25 on both Thursday and Friday this week in order to give our teachers a little extra time to prepare your child's year-end report card.  Thanks for planning accordingly.

Our semesterly celebration of all we've accomplished during our Magnet Monday electives will take place again this coming Monday afternoon at 2:10 during our last Magnet Monday classes of the school year.  We encourage all our parents to come in to the school at that time to participate in this exciting showcase opportunity.

Remember: the last day of school is next Thursday.  As always, we will release students early at 12:25 on the last day of the school year.

Finally, we'd just like to take this opportunity, as a school community, to thank all of you for the trust that you placed in us this year, and for the great kids that you sent to us to teach each day.  It has been our honor and our privilege to work with all of you this year.

We hope to see many of you in August, on Thursday the 11th to be precise, for the first day of the 2016-2017 school year.

Have a great summer, everyone. As always, if you missed any portion of this message, the text is available on our Facebook page and on the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

The text of this evening's robo-call -- May 3, 2016

Hello Marshall families,

As we draw nearer to the end of the school year, there are still a number of things that we'd like you to be aware of.  So please stay on the line for the next minute or two to find out all about what's happening at Marshall during the first few weeks of the month of May.

First of all, we hope all of our kindergarten, first, and second grade parents have made plans to attend our 16th annual Heritage Square violin performance this Thursday afternoon, May 5th, at high noon. Bring your sunscreen or your parasol and be prepared to be amazed as 300 young violists showcase all that they've learned in our one-of-a-kind, award-winning, tax-credit-supported Suzuki violin program this year.

Don't forget, there will be no school this coming Monday, May 9th. That day was reserved as a snow-day makeup day on this year's school calendar and, because it was unused, school will be dismissed all day on Monday.

Finally, we hope you already know Marshall Magnet Elementary School strives to provide the very best education possible to all of our students, each and every day. But, we'd like you to tell us how we're doing. Our annual Family Satisfaction Survey is available online in English [https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FUSD16] and in Spanish  [https://es.surveymonkey.com/r/FUSD16SP]. Links to the survey, as well as the entire text of this message, are available on our Facebook and on the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

The text of this evening's robo-call - April 5, 2016

Hello Marshall families,

As of today, state-mandated standardized testing season has officially begun at Marshall for all of our third, fourth, and fifth graders.  Testing sessions will take place during the school day at various points over the course of the next three weeks.  At Marshall, we like to imagine testing season is GAME DAY, the point-in-time we have been training and practicing for all year... our best chance to shine, and show what we know!  Each student at Marshall has been provided with handouts and flyers indicating when their specific testing sessions will occur during the month of April. We appreciate you making every effort to have your healthy, well-rested, and well-fed child in school on their testing dates in order to avoid the need to have them make-up their tests at a later date. If you have questions about testing, testing dates and/or testing times, please contact the school office or your child's teacher.  We'll be happy to fill you in on the details.

It's never too late to get involved with our most-excellent Parent-Teacher Organization.  They'll meet again to continue planning for the coming 2016-2017 school year tomorrow night from 6:30-7:30 in the school library.  Everyone's encouraged to attend and childcare is always available.

Finally, To-date, you've generously given $39,844 dollars to our school to help us support and sustain our magnet programs.  With a little over a week to go, we've optimistic we'll receive the $156 we need to make our annual $40,000 goal.  Please consider making your contribution, a dollar for dollar credit against the taxes you must otherwise pay to the state, before you pay your 2015 taxes.

Thanks for listening, everybody.  More information about our tax credit program, as well as the text of this message, is available on our Facebook page and on the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

Goodbye.
