The text of this evening's robo-call -- Aug. 28, 2015

Hello Marshall families,

Happy Friday!  We're calling tonight with just a couple quick updates to ensure you know all about what's going to be going on at Marshall over the course of the next few weeks.

First of all, we've got great news for our third, fourth and fifth grade students: Magnet Monday, our one-of-a-kind extracurricular electives program, begins on Monday!  From 2:10 to 3:10 every Monday our intermediate students will be participating in Lego League, photo-journalism, painting, ballet folklorico dancing, Mastermind, and STEAM Team, as well as and nearly a dozen other unique endeavors, all taught by a collaboration between our awesome teachers and a host of local professionals, artists, and scientists and supported by your annual tax credit contributions to Marshall School.

We hope you've already made plans to attend our second annual Connect To School Open House Night on September 10th.  Parent and teacher teams will be meeting together in every classroom that evening to review student achievement data, set goals, and establish strategies to strengthen our home-school relationships in order to boost student achievement for all.  Childcare will be provided at Marshall for families who RSVP ASAP.  Look for the form at the bottom of the Connect To School flyer to be sent home next week.

Don't forget: Monday, September 7th is Labor Day.  There will be no school that day.

Finally, if your family has not already completed the pink federal free-and-reduced price meal form, please do so and return it to the school office as soon as possible.  Marshall School receives crucial assistance funding from based on the number of families at our school who qualify for this program, funding which benefits every student in every classroom.  Alternatively, you may complete your application online at www.heartlandapps.com.

That's it.  Thanks for listening, everyone.  As always, if you missed any portion of this message, the text is available on our Facebook page and on the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

Have a nice weekend.  Goodbye.

The text of this evening's robo-call - August 5, 2015

Hello Marshall families,

Tomorrow is the big day! The 2015-2016 school year begins at Marshall School on Thursday morning, August 6th, at 8:35.  We've got lots of important first-day information for you this evening, so please stay on the line for the next couple of minutes to find out all about what's going on at Marshall during the first couple days of school.

First of all, new kindergarten parents, don't forget, your child will be released from school early tomorrow at 12:25.  If your child rides FUSD transportation home from school, kindergarten-parents are encouraged to follow the bus to your child's stop and meet them there.

All other Marshall students, in first through fifth grade, will be dismissed at 3:20 on Thursday, the first day of school.

Parents please remember: unless students are enrolled in the before-school FACTS program, they are not to arrive at school before 8:20 in the morning when the cafeteria opens for breakfast and supervised playtime on the playground becomes available. Also, please remember: students who arrive at school after the second bell at 8:40 will be marked as tardy.

Parents, please remember, if you drive your child to school, please always park in the lots across the street and have your children cross the street to the school via our well-tended crosswalks.  Drivers can and will be ticketed by Flagstaff Police for dropping students off in the red zones on both sides of Bonito Street.  Also please be aware, road construction on Bonito Street between Aspen and Cherry has closed that section of the road to through-traffic.

Finally, please keep in mind that Marshall students will be released at 12:25 on Friday, August 7, and every Friday throughout the school year, and must be picked up at that time or enrolled in after-school FACTS if they don't ride FUSD transportation home.  If you care to make arrangements for your student to attend FACTS after school during the week, information is available online at www.fusd1.org and in the school office all year long.  Scholarships for FACTS are available to qualifying families on a limited basis.

Thanks for listening everybody.  As always, if you missed any portion of this message, the text is available on our Facebook page and on the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

See you in the morning!

Goodbye.
