Hello Marshall families,

We've got a couple of quick reminders for you this evening, so please stay on the line to find out all about what's happening this week at Marshall School.

First of all, we hope you're planning to attend our annual Cookie Walk tomorrow evening, Wednesday, December 16th.  There will be six big circles of chairs set up in the gym and our students will use the snowball tickets they've earned for reading to participate.  Students will walk in two different sessions. K-2 students will walk from 5:30-6:00, and students in grades 3-5, from 6:00-6:30.

Don't forget, school will be dismissed for winter break from Monday, December 21st through Friday, January 1st.  We hope you have a great, happy, fun-filled vacation.

Finally, we want to remind you one last time before winter break: all of Marshall's one of a kind extracurricular magnet programs, like Suzuki violin, chess club, Lego league and many more rely on your annual tax credit contributions to continue. Now's the time to consider making your donation to Marshall in order for it to apply to your 2015 taxes.

Thanks for listening everyone.  As always, if you missed any portion of this message, a link to the text is available on our Facebook page and on the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

Goodbye.

Hello Marshall families,

We're calling tonight with just a couple of quick reminders, so please stay on the line to find out all about what's happening at Marshall during the next couple of weeks.

First of all, we hope you've made plans to forego the dirty dishes and eat out tomorrow, Tuesday, December 8th, because it's 10% Tuesday for Marshall School all day at both Fratelli Pizza locations.  This is a great fundraiser for our school, and we're grateful to the folks at Fratelli for their generosity.  We hope you'll support them and Marshall School on Tuesday.

Don't forget, this Thursday, December 10th, we will dismiss school early, at 12:25, in order to allow our teachers to have some additional preparation time as they compile all the data for this grading period's report cards.  Thanks for planning accordingly.  On Friday, December 11th, we will also release school at our usual dismissal time: 12:25.

We're still collecting canned foods for our annual canned food drive.  And we'll gather everything together, with the help of some very special guests and the Marshall School "marching" Band, this Friday morning at 9:00.  All of the our canned foods will be donated to our on-site Parenting Arizona office and local charitable organizations.

Finally, please continue to encourage your child to read each night and complete their reading log in order to acquire tickets to our annual Cookie Walk next Wednesday evening, from 5:00-6:00 in the Gym.

Thanks for listening, everyone.  As always, if you missed any portion of this message, the text is available on our Facebook page and on the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

The text of this evening's robo-call -- April 14, 2015

Hello Marshall families,

We've got a number of important updates for you this evening, so please stay on the line to find out all about what's happening at Marshall School.

We hope you're planning to attend our annual PTO-sponsored School Carnival on Wednesday April 29th from 5:30-6:30.  This fun event is a an important fundraiser for teachers and games and interactive activities will be hosted in many of their classrooms that night. The PTO will also be on hand selling hot-dogs and drinks, too.  We hope to see you there.

I'd like to ask you personally to please take a few minutes to visit our school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com, to complete our annual parent satisfaction survey.  We sincerely want to hear from you about how we're doing at Marshall Magnet School, what we're doing right as well as what we might improve on in the future.  Links to both English and Spanish versions of the survey are available on our website.  Thanks for taking time to complete this survey for us.

Finally, please don't forget: state-mandated standardized testing season has officially begun at Marshall for all of our third, fourth, and fifth graders.  Testing sessions will take place during the school day at various points over the course of the next three weeks.  At Marshall, we like to imagine testing season is GAME DAY, the point-in-time we have been training and practicing for all year... our best chance to shine, and show what we know!  Each student at Marshall has been provided with handouts and flyers indicating when their specific testing sessions will occur during the month of April. We appreciate you making every effort to have your healthy, well-rested, and well-fed child in school on their testing dates in order to avoid the need to have them make-up their tests at a later date. If you have questions about testing, testing dates and/or testing times, please contact the school office or your child's teacher.  We'll be happy to fill you in on the details.

Thanks for listening everybody.  As always, if you missed any portion of this message, the text is available on our Facebook page and on the school blog: www.marshallmagentschool.com.

Goodbye.

Annual Parent Satisfaction Survey

We like to believe, here at Marshall Magnet School, that our doors are always open to you.  We want you to view us as a place where you can easily get involved and have your voice heard.  This is because, most of all, we want to be the very best learning place for your child that we can possibly be.

One simple way to let us know how we're doing, or what you'd like to see us do better, or more often, or differently, is to fill out our annual Parent Satisfaction Survey.  It's available online right now, in both English or Spanish.  Or you can stop by the school office anytime and pick up a printed copy to fill out at your convenience.

The deadline to complete the survey is April 30. We hope you will take a few minutes to let us know how we're doing.

Thanks!

The text of this evening's robo-call -- Monday, March 9, 2015

Hello Marshall families,

It's Connect To School and Parent Teacher Conferences week at Marshall School, so there are a number of big changes to our daily dismissal schedules this week.  Please stay on the line for the next minute or two to get all of our updates.

Among the important activities we will hold this week are our Connect To School parent group data meetings which will take place on Wednesday morning and afternoon in every classroom at Marshall.  All of our parents are encouraged to attend these key meetings to review student achievement and receive essential tools to use at home to help your child become more successful at school.  Several flyers, notes, and RSVP forms have been sent home in anticipation of this second-ever of its kind event.  If you have questions about our Connect To School meetings, please contact your child's teacher, or, better yet, plan to attend your child's classroom group meeting on Wednesday to see for yourself what all the fuss it about.

Please take special notice: We will dismiss school at 11:10 this Wednesday, March 11, to ensure every parent group has ample time to meet together to discuss student achievement.

On Thursday and Friday this week, we will dismiss school at 12:25 each day.  If you would like to meet with your child's teacher you are encouraged to arrange personally for a time to meet together for a traditional individual parent-teacher conference on Thursday or Friday.  Report cards will be distributed during these conferences or sent home with students at the end of the school day on Friday.

We'll hold our second annual Native American Family Night at the school on Thursday, March 12.  We hope all of our families will plan to attend this one-of-a-kind school event to hear local artists speak about their craft.  Food will be served and event will take place from 6:00-8:00 in the gym.  The book fair, which is open before, during, and after school all week, will also be open from 7:30-8:00 during Family Night.

Finally, don't forget, school will be dismissed for Spring Break at Marshall from Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 20.  We hope you're able to spend this time with those that you love doing the things you enjoy.  We'll see you back at school bright and early on Monday, March 23.

Thanks for listening everyone.  As always, if you missed any portion of this call, the text is available on our Facebook page and on the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

Goodbye.

Hello Marshall families,

We've got a number of important updates for you this evening, so please stay on the line for the next couple minutes to find out all about what's happening at Marshall School.

Our 28th annual Science Fair Open House will take place tomorrow evening, Wednesday, February 25th, from 5:00-6:30.  We hope you are planning to attend.  The entire school gym is filled with an amazing array of interesting and informative projects.

Also we will hold our annual Kindergarten Early Enrollment Open House tomorrow evening at the school from 4:30-6:30.  If you have a student who will be entering kindergarten next year, or know of some who has, now is the best time to enroll a student at Marshall.

We will be holding our second round of Academic Parent Teacher Team meetings during our upcoming spring Connect To School Event on Wednesday, March 11, during the afternoon.  We hope you will plan to attend this important group meeting with your child's teacher to review overall achievement and the goals we set at the beginning of the year.  You will find more information about out Connect To School event schedule, and an RSVP for childcare at that time, in the new issue of the Marshall Magnet newsletter, which will be sent home with your child this week.

Finally, we want to be sure you're aware that Arizona's newly elected governor, Doug Ducey, has recently proposed a bill which would require all Arizona school districts to reduce "non-classroom" spending by 5%.  It might seem, initially, that such a cut in spending would have little impact on our day to day operations or our ability to carry out our mission.  However, such a cut would not only have a lasting effect on school administration and front office staff, it would also adversely impact custodial services, food services, transportation services, telephone services, counseling services, nursing services, instructional support services, as well as RTI and special education teachers.

Overall, if required to make 5% cuts in the aforementioned areas FUSD would be compelled to reduce spending by more than $1.7 million in these areas.

Several other bills that will have dire impacts on public education in Arizona are also making their way through the state legislature right now.  Time is running short to let your voice be heard in this process.  Brenda Barton ((602) 926-4129), Sylvia Allen ((602) 926-5219), and Bob Thorpe ((602) 926-5219) represent our region in the Arizona State Legislature.  Their office telephone numbers and emails addresses, along with the governor's contact information, are available on the school blog.

As always, if you missed any portion of this message, the entire text is available on our Facebook page and the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com

Thanks for listening.  Goodbye.
