The text of this evening's robo-call - Aug. 31, 2014

Hello Marshall families,

We've got just a couple quick reminders for you this evening, so please stay on the line to ensure you're up-to-date with all that's going on at Marshall School.

First of all, don't forget: tomorrow is Labor Day, so school will be dismissed on Monday, September 1.  We hope you're able to spend time on this extra day off with those that you love.  We'll see you back at school bright and early on Tuesday morning, September 2.

Our PTO will meet for the first time this school year on Wednesday evening, September 3, from 6:30-7:30 in the school Library.  We hope you will plan to attend.

Don't forget: Connect-To-School night is coming on September 11.  We will meet together as parent and teacher teams to discuss the coming school year and set specific learning goals for each of our students that evening.  Please plan to attend this important meeting.  In order for our time together to be most effective, we're asking that children not attend our parent-teacher team meetings during Connect-To-School night.  If you will require childcare that evening, please complete and return on Tuesday the RSVP form that was sent home as a flyer on Friday afternoon and also in the Marshall Magnet newsletter last week.

Have a great long weekend, everyone.  As always, if you missed any portion of this message, the text is available on our Facebook page and on the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

Goodbye.

The text of this evening's robo-call -- August 26, 2014

Hello Marshall families,

We have a few quick updates for you this evening about a number of upcoming events at Marshall, so please stay on the line to find out all about what's happening at the school over the course of the next several weeks.

Hopefully by now you've received the first issue of our school newsletter, The Marshall Magnet, and read about our upcoming, first-of-its-kind, Connect To School Night on the evening of September 11.  We're excited to meet as classes with our parent groups that night to partner together in new ways to better ensure your child's success in school.  During our 45 minutes together, we'll discuss student progress, set goals together, and review useful, simple tools and strategies that parents can use to help enhance learning at home.  It will be very different from what we've done during our open house evenings before, but we're confident that, by creating stronger partnerships between home and school we will all be doing what's best for our students. In order for our time together to be most productive, we're asking that children not attend our Connect To School Night meetings.  Childcare will be available at Marshall that night.  Please use the RSVP form at the bottom of the school newsletter to enroll your child and help us get an accurate count of who will be here that night.

Third, fourth, and fifth grade families, don't forget to return your Magnet Monday Electives Registration Form on or before August 29th.  That's this Friday.  There are some 17 extracurricular classes being offered this year, some returning old favorites like Lego League and a few new offerings like Ballet Folklorico, Speech & Debate, and Photojournalism, too. We're excited to get started with our second year of Magnet Monday on September 8th.

Finally, for our route 2 and 22 bus riders, please be aware: there will be some minor route changes and stop times beginning on August 28th to alleviate crowding on both of those routes.  We began a few of these changes this afternoon but will be sending home detailed information about the changes that will begin on the 28th with your student tomorrow.

Thanks for listening everybody.  As always, if you missed any portion of this message the text is available on our Facebook page and the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

The text of tonight's robo-call -- August 6, 2014

Hello Marshall families,

Well, here we go!  Tomorrow, Thursday, August 7th, is the first day of school.

If you haven't already checked our class lists, they will be on display on the front doors of the school through Friday morning.

The FACTS program will be enrolling students in the portable classrooms at the rear of the school building adjacent to the playground beginning at 6:45 in the morning.  Unless your child is enrolled in FACTS they may not be dropped off at the school prior to 8:15 AM.  Breakfast service and supervised recess also begin at that time.

Kindergarten parents, don't forget about early release for your students.  They will eat in the cafeteria at 10:30 and be dismissed to go home at 11:30 on Thursday.  If your child rides FUSD transportation, please plan to follow the bus home to meet your child at the bus stop afterward.

All other students in grades one through five will be released from school at our usual 3:20 dismissal time tomorrow. As always, everyone will go home at 12:25 on Friday.

Thanks for listening everyone.  The text of tonight's message is available on our Facebook page and on the school blog: www.marshallmagnetschool.com.

Don't forget: First bell at 8:35, tardy bell at 8:40.

See you all in the morning!

Goodbye.
