Ch-ch-ch-changes at Marshall Magnet School

Next year promises to be an exciting year at Marshall Magnet School as we work harder than ever to enhance your child's rigorous core academics with our unique extracurricular magnet programs in the arts and sciences!  As a faculty, we're committed to utilizing and recombining our assets in new and innovative ways in order to provide your child with the greatest educational benefit possible, as outlined in our one-of-a-kind mission statement:

Marshall School exists to promote the academic and social development of each of its students through a diverse and integrated curriculum emphasizing the arts and sciences.

In order to carry out our mission most effectively, we've made a few staffing and programming changes for the 2013-2014 school year.  Among them:
  • Ms. Ballard will return to the classroom teaching fifth grade!
  • Ms. Ingols, Ms. Perkins, and Ms. Hadden will collaborate to teach a multi-age first-second-third grade Structured English Immersion classroom for our English Language Learners!
  • Ms. Grimmett will join our staff from Puente de Hozho to teach a third-fourth grade multi-age class!
  • Ms. Arnold will teach a fourth-fifth grade multi-age class!
  • Ms. Shaw will join the first-grade team!
  • Ms. Stern and Ms. Ronn will collaborate more closely than ever to create a more ideal learning place for the special-needs students in their classrooms!
  • Ms. Reasor will provide expert guidance alongside our classroom teachers in our new Art & Science Lab!
  • Ms. Grant will join our expert RTI team as an integration specialist!
  • Magnet Mondays will enhance and enrich our opportunities to extend our existing magnet programs, and add several exciting new classes, to students in grades 3-5 in an elective-class-based hour of instruction every Monday afternoon!
  • Our Response To Intervention (RTI) program will expand to include Tier 3 reading instruction every morning, Monday-Thursday, to accommodate the learning needs of our students who most require additional assistance to meet grade-level requirements!
  • Our special class teachers in Art, Music, PE, and Technology will have new opportunities each week to collaborate with grade-level teachers to enhance and broaden their curriculum incorporating skills in these key areas!
We hope that you will find these changes to be positive and exciting!  We certainly do!  Thanks for your ongoing support of our staff and programs as we strive to make Marshall Magnet School the best learning-place it can possibly be.
