New Educational Technology Coming Soon

Many of our classrooms at Marshall Magnet School have interactive Smart™ or Promethean whiteboards in them.   But for one reason or another, not all of them do.  However, thanks to our marvelous PTO and the hundreds of Marshall students who raised money during the 2011 Mustang Gallop,  we're in the process of procuring several new Promethean Boards for the classrooms in our school which currently need one.

What's a Promethean Board?  That's a good question.  Basically, it's an interactive whiteboard, connected to a computer and a projector that allows the entire surface of the wall-mounted board to be used to control the computer using a pen-stylus.  Promethean boards are used  extensively in the professional world, but they have also been shown to be an invaluable technological resource in classrooms.  Research indicates they can have a significant impact on student achievement and engagement when used by teachers who understand how to best use the technology.  Innumerable teacher resources have also been created to assist teachers in using interactive whiteboards in the classroom.

In making the decision to use Mustang Gallop funds to purchase this new equipment, the Marshall Technology Committee has also committed to ensuring that our teachers have the opportunity to better learn about how to use their new Promethean Boards to enhance student achievement.  Several in-service training opportunities will take place in the coming months to provide this training to teachers.  Additionally, on Tuesday, January 24th,  in the parking lot across the street from the school,  the 36-foot-long Promethean ActiveClassroom RV will be on-site to showcase interactive whiteboards and other exciting new technologies to teachers and parents  alike.  You're encouraged to tour through the bus at your convenience between 9:00AM-4:00PM. Please print yourself a ticket and then simply show up at the AdtivClassroom Rv's door whenever it's convenient for you; they'll take care of the rest!
